Solar Installations in Gauteng

We design, supply and install solar PV and battery backup systems across Gauteng — hybrid inverters, lithium batteries, roof-mounted panels and full changeover boards — sized on your actual consumption so the system carries the loads you care about during load shedding and cuts your monthly bill.

What this service includes

  • Hybrid and off-grid inverter installations (Sunsynk, Deye, LuxPower, Victron)
  • Lithium battery banks with correct BMS and comms wiring
  • Roof mounting on IBR, corrugated, tile and flat concrete roofs
  • DC and AC protection, surge arrestors and correct earthing
  • Essential-loads changeover boards so critical circuits stay live
  • Monitoring set-up on your phone plus handover training

How we do it

  1. 1Load and consumption auditWe list your appliances and check your municipal bill to size the array, inverter and battery properly.
  2. 2System design and quoteYou get a clear design: panel count, inverter size, battery kWh, expected backup hours and expected savings.
  3. 3Mounting and DC installationRails and panels are mounted with correct fixings and waterproofing; DC strings are run in UV-rated conduit.
  4. 4Inverter, battery and AC tie-inThe inverter and batteries are wall-mounted, the essential-loads board is built and the system is tied into your DB.
  5. 5Commissioning and COCWe commission, set charge profiles, connect monitoring and issue a COC for the installation.

What affects the price

  • Inverter size (5kW, 8kW, 12kW or three-phase)
  • Battery capacity in kWh — the biggest single cost driver
  • Number and wattage of panels and the roof type
  • Whether an essential-loads board and rewiring is needed
  • Distance between roof, inverter and DB board

FAQs

Solar Installations: common questions

What size solar system do I need for my house?

Most Gauteng homes start with a 5kW inverter, 5 to 10kWh of battery and 6 to 12 panels. Larger homes with pool pumps, boreholes and electric geysers usually need 8kW to 12kW. We size it from your actual usage, not a guess.

Will solar run my whole house during load shedding?

It can, but it is usually cheaper to put your essential circuits — lights, plugs, Wi-Fi, TV, fridge — on backup and leave the geyser and stove on grid. We build the changeover board either way.

How long does a solar installation take?

A typical residential hybrid installation is completed in 2 to 3 days.

Do I need a COC for solar?

Yes. Any new fixed electrical work, including a solar and battery installation, must be issued with a Certificate of Compliance.
